Work continues on the 2014-2018 Wabigoon Forest Management Plan.
Looking at comments from the public meeting in April, Plan Author and Domtar Spokesperson Penny Ratushniak says some residents were concerned about trails being destroyed.
Ratushniak says they follow best management practices to make sure trails aren’t destroyed.
She stresses those trails will still be there and it’s just a matter of how the area will be harvested and regenerated.
Ratushniak says the Ghost Lake Trail Alliance is building new trails where there are younger trees.
She notes it will be 50-60 years before those trees can be harvested.
Ratushniak says they will bring forward their draft plan on July 5th.
She addressed Alliance concerns at a public meeting Monday night.
