It’s a gold medal for a former Drydenite at a world championship event.
Sarah Carter took gold in the 75kg Championships at the 2019 International Federation of Muaythai Amateur World Championships in Bangkok, Thailand.
Carter scored the win over Rabia Akdeniz of Turkey after defeating Russia’s Irina Larionova in the Semi-finals.
On social media, Carter said “I received the medal but that win was for and came from an entire team of phenomenal people! For an ‘individual sport’ – this was anything but and far from an individual effort.”
Carter lives and trains in Winnipeg.
