Former Chief of the Kenora Police, Dan Jorgensen is being remembered as an adventurer, a family man and most of all a man of compassion.
Hundreds turned out for a memorial service Tuesday.
Dave Jorgensen, Dan’s brother confirms that he died with a smile on his face.
Dan died over a week ago in a kayaking mishap in Manitoba just short of his 60th birthday.
Brian Forbes was a sky-diving buddy of Dan’s and says he made 572 jumps during his life time.
He also relayed that he had a real thirst for knowledge and sharing it with others.
Nan Norman from Making Kenora home says she didn’t know Dan as long as some others, but she knew him as a man who stood up for what is right and was committed to caring more than most of us.
John Frankcom worked with Dan on the Ident Unit at the Kenora Police Service and says not only was he determined, committed, he had an attention to detail, he says McGyver had nothing on him.
In the words of his brother Dave, he says Dan had one of the softest hearts imaginable and enjoyed a life well-lived.
