Fort Frances Dumping Sewage

Fort Frances has started pumping untreated sewage into the Rainy River
to relieve stress on the sewage treatment system.
The area has been drenched with 5.6 centimetres of rain in a 24-hour
period as of midnight Wednesday.
Fire Chief Steve Richardson said dumping sewage into the River
does not pose a health hazard to residents and falls within environmental
guidelines.
The Town says sewage will continue to be discharged into the River as
long as rain continues to soak the area.
