Fraser Report Releases School Rankings

Most of the elementary schools in the area continue to score below the provincial average according to the Fraser Institute.
The right wing think tank has released its annual ranking of elementary schools in Ontario.
The report compares EQAO data, as well as the number of special need students and parental income.
Author Peter Cowley says the average score for the Keewatin-Patricia District School Board was 3.9 out of 10, while the Northwest District Catholic School Board scored a 5.6 out of 10.
Cowley says St. Josephs was tops in Dryden at 6, which is right at the provincial average.
The former Riverview school was next on the list at 5.8, followed by New Prospect at 4.6.
Cowley says it’s important for schools to look at the results and find ways for improvement.
The Public School Board has long dismissed the report.

Other area schools (out of 10):
Golden Learning Centre in Red Lake-5.7
Red Lake Madsen-3.3
Ear Falls Public-0
Sacred Heart in Sioux Lookout-5.2
Sioux Mountain in Sioux Lookout-1.6
