Fred Mihalick, age 75, of Dryden, Ontario, died June 23, 2011, with his family by his side. Words cannot express how deeply Fred will be missed by his family and many friends.
Fred was born on the family farm in Glaslyn, Saskatchewan on January 2, 1936. He was the seventh of nine children and always talked about fond memories of family life in his younger years.
He moved to Dryden in 1954 and was employed in various aspects in the forestry industry until 1999. Also from 1972 until 1984, Fred and Nettie operated a commercial fishing business in the Dryden area.
Fred devoted much of his time and energy to his family and friends and enjoyed hunting, fishing, tinkering in the garage, and gardening. He had a love for country/western and fiddle music and shared this love with all of Bedworth Road.
Fred is survived by his wife of 52 years, Nettie, daughter Lorraine Castle, grandchildren Scott and Jillian Castle; Tyler, Jaymeson, and Jayna Mihalick. He is also survived by Tanya Mihalick; sister Anne Beulner, brothers John Mihalick, Joe Mihalick, and Paul (Charlene) Mihalick and many nieces, nephews and extended family members that he was very close with.
Fred was predeceased by his son, Jim; his son-in-law Tim Castle; his sister Mary, and his brothers Tony, Mike and Andy.
Cremation has taken place and interment and a celebration of life will follow at a later date, in honour of Fred. If friends so desire, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation through the Dryden Community Funeral Home , 249 Grand Trunk Avenue, Dryden, ON P8N 2X3
