One of the most enduring children’s entertainers in Canada is coming to Kenora.
Fred Penner will be at Harbourfest on Sunday morning.
He admits not performing for two years because of COVID-19 was difficult.
“I started to questioning whether I could do it anymore,” admits Penner in a recent interview with 89.5 The Lake.
“Whether my voice would support it….whether my physical ability…whether my hands could play guitar for an hour plus. Once I got up there (his first concert back in March) it was like 20 years had been eliminated from my age and it felt great.”
While he wasn’t touring during during COVID, he managed to keep busy.
“I’ve been playing guitar on a daily basis. Much more practicing and just getting better with that instrument. Lots of new chord progressions and songs I’m working on that I hope will lead to a new album in the not too distant future. It’s been a continuation of what I like to do.”
Penner says he’ll be playing some of his favorites like the Cat Came Back, and Sandwiches.
He’s scheduled the hit the stage at 11:00 Sunday morning as part of Family Fest.
