If you’re a customer of Sioux Lookout Hydro, you can get yourself a free block-heater timer and save up to 25% on energy costs.
All the municipally owned electric utilities in northwestern Ontario are teaming up in the initiative.
Campaign Spokesperson Lesley MacNiven says the pilot program is now available to the first 4,000 customers that contact them.

MacNiven says they will be doing timer installs until March 1st and they are hoping for good results in order to run the program again next year.
She notes a vehicle doesn’t need to be plugged in all night, it only needs about four hours before it can start in the morning.
