A new feature at the Dryden Public Library as staff are set to officially launch their Indigenous Collections for Children and Youth.
Chief Librarian Dayna DeBenedet says it’s a collection of books for children, middle grades and young adults, both fiction and non-fiction.
DeBenedet says it also includes learning materials for Ojibway.
The introduction will actually take place at the Dryden Native Friendship Centre on Saturday at 2:00pm with a free puppet show courtesy of Chad Solomon of Rabbit and Bear Paws.
You can pick up a free ticket the Library.
DeBenedet says the new collection is important and needed due to Dryden’s changing demographics and a larger Indigenous population living in the community.
DeBenedet says she wants to ensure the collections at the Library reflect the community and support their schools and teachers and their curriculum.
