*Trigger Warning: Mentions of suicide, addiction, and trauma.*
Yesterday, the Dryden Native Friendship Centre hosted a powerful community event, the Chef Off with Jay Barnard, better known across Canada as Chef Recovery. The day wasn’t just about food; it was about transformation, lived experience, and the unshakeable belief that recovery is possible for anyone.
As part of Dryden’s growing commitment to supporting mental health and recovery, this gathering also served as a lead‑into the 2nd Annual Recovery Day, coming up on September 11th, a day that promises inspiration, community connection, and real talk about what recovery looks like in everyday life.

Jay’s presence added depth to the event. Between laughter, cooking, and community conversations, he reminded everyone that empowerment starts with showing up, even on the hard days.
