The province has set aside 82-million dollars for northern municipalities to help pay for infrastructure-related projects.
The funding will come from the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund.
It will be allocated on a population basis, with 100-thousand dollars for the smallest municipalities and as much as five million dollars each for larger cities such as Thunder Bay.
Municipalities have until the end of 2002 to apply for the funds.
