Construction of a new school in Mine Centre, about 70-kilometres east of Fort Frances, could start early next year.
The Province has announced $4.8-million in funding for the Rainy-River District School Board.
Education Director Jack McMaster says students, staff and the board have been waiting a long time for a new school.
McMaster says the exact cost of construction has yet to be determined, but anticipates it will be higher than the amount provided by the Ministry of Education.
