Years of lobbying the Province for more money to cover land ambulance
services may have finally paid off.
The Kenora District Services Board was forced to hike the Municipal
levy by $1.1-million last year because of a new contract for land
ambulance employees.
CAO Stain Leaf says he believes the Province is finally willing to
cover its share for the unincorporated areas.
The KDSB has adjusted its 2004 financial report to reflect a deficit in
the ambulance program in hopes the Government will cover the shortfall next
year.
The City of Dryden has agreed to set up a KDSB reserve fund as a result
of the new accounting method and some expected confusion.
