A Keewatin-Patricia District School Board Trustee believes the Federal Government should spend more money on young athletes.
After a 12 medal performance in Athens, Prime Minister Martin asked Minister of Sport Stephen Owen to bring a proposal to Cabinet regarding funding for athletes.
Ed Arnold believes Owen should focus on the post-secondary level.
Arnold says there are several gifted athletes in the Northwest that could excel with a little bit of funding.
Arnold adds there is a lack of equipment and training facilities in smaller communities.
