Future Ownership of Local Zellers Stores Unclear

Officials with the U-S retailer Target says its too early to say whether the Kenora and Thunder Bay Zellers stores will be converted under a deal to acquire the leasehold interests of 220-Zellers stores.
Spokesperson Amy Riley says they’ll now be meeting with the landlords of all of the stores.
Target wants to open at least 100 stores in Canada by 2013.
Early indications is that Hudson’s Bay would maintain control of smaller locations in rural areas, including Northern communities.
