The wait is finally over for the Dryden Eagles High School Football team.
The Eagles host their first playoff game in more than 15-years Friday afternoon at Harry McMaster Field.
Coach Rob Rodgers is the oldest member of the current coaching staff and he says there’s something special with this years team.
Rodgers says they are the only team to run an option-style offence, and notes they usually catch defences off guard.
He suggests the scores of the games this year reflect that.
The Eagles outscored their opponents 139-7 at Harry McMaster Field this season.
Rodgers is crediting the success of the team with the fledgling Dryden Falcons Minor Football program.
Quarterback Garrett Hicks says his team is excited about playing at home, stressing they want to come out and show their fans that they are committed to winning the championship.
Gunner Anderson says there’s a lot of excitement on the field and in the community.
He notes when he was in grade nine, the Eagles were 0-7 and says it’s nice to be on the other end now.
Both Anderson and Hicks say last years controversial loss in the Semi-Final left a sour taste in their mouth and they are using that as motivation this year.
Kick-off between Dryden and the Neelin Spartans is 3 o’clock.

Meantime in the Consolation pool, the Beaver Brae Broncos advanced to the second round with a 42-12 win over Maples.
The Muskies season has come to an end after they fell to St. John’s 40-6.
