Garry Desserre

The family of Garry Desserre are sad to announce the passing of a beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother.

Garry was born in Emo, Ontario to Alphonse and Sophie Desserre and was one of seven siblings. He grew up on the family farm in the Stratton area, where he met and married his wife of 48 years; Elaine King. Together they had four children.

Garry was a long time member of the Dryden Trappers Association . He spent all of his spare time enjoying the outdoors, fishing, hunting and trapping at the family trapper shack.

Garry belonged to the Local 105, after 33 years of dedicated employment, he retired on February, 1998 from the Avenor Mill. After retirement he enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

Garry is survived by his wife Elaine, children; Donna (Randy) Vandenberghe of Dryden, Karen (Danny) Tattrie of Eagle River, Darryl (Kemo), Kevin (Sheri) also of Dryden; grandchildren Danielle, Derrick, Breanne, Brooke, Andrea, Karlie, Jamee and Kisha. He is also survived by his sister Phyllis (Ron) Kinciad of Dryden, brothers; Wilton (Deanna) of Ear Falls, Valbert (Wendy) of Edmonton, Howard (Debbie), Elwood of Dryden and brother-in-law; Chris Rudd of Dryden. He was predeceased by sister Alvena.

Visitation will be held Thursday June 16, 2011, from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

at the Dryden Community Funeral Home’s Chapel.

A Funeral Service will be held on Friday June 17, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at the First United Church with Pastor Doug Brown officiating.

Interment will be at a later date.

If friends, so desire, memoriam donations may be made to the DRHC Equipment Fund or Machin Medical Clinic through the Dryden Community Funeral Home 249 Grand Trunk Ave. Dryden, ON P8N 2X3.
