Gary Doer Addresses Border Issues

Our ambassador to the U.S. says work is underway to ease problems at the border for American fishermen and hunters.
Northern Ontario tourism operators say they’re losing thousands because U.S. citizens are being refused entry over previous convictions for things like impaired driving.
Gary Doer says Americans have to realize we take impaired driving convictions seriously.
Doer says Canada is not going to amend the Criminal Code on protecting people on our Highway’s from drinking and driving.
But, Doer says Americans also have to be made aware that they can apply for a pardon after a period of time which will clear the conviction and ease tension at the border.
