Work is expected to begin this Spring on a $16.4-million diesel generating station on the Webequie First Nation.
Kenora MP Greg Rickford says the Federal Government has awarded a tender for the construction of the new 1-megawatt station.
The 3-diesel generators will be housed in a new building which will include a waste storage area, a mechanical room and a main control center.
Construction materials and the new generators are being trucked to the community on the winter ice road.
