George Richard ‘Dick’ McKeever

In loving memory of George Richard “Dick” McKeever, 70 years, who passed away Sunday, November 28, 2010 at the Dryden Regional Health Centre.

Dick was born and raised in Kenora. He took an apprenticeship in 1960 to become a heavy equipment mechanic for the Department of Highways. He worked in the woodlands departments of area forestry companies eventually relocating to Dryden in 1979 where he remained until his retirement in 1997.

Dick enjoyed travelling, visiting much of Canada and the United States as well as Australia. He was an avid member of the Amateur Radio Club, keeping his ear to the radio to know what was happening in the area. Dick had a wonderful sense of humour and enjoyed playful teasing of family and friends.

Dick, a loving and devoted father, is survived by his children, Tom (Valerie) of Dryden, ON; Robert (Kim) of Winnipeg, MB; Deanna (Mike) Schauber and Tina Westerman of Brockville. He is also survived by his mother Eleanor of Kenora, sisters Shirley (Dick) Melvard of Buffalo, Wyoming; Nancy (Ron) Bull of Prince George, BC; Betty of Kenora and Bill (Lisa) of Plano, Texas. Dick is also survived by his grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Dick was predeceased by his father George McKeever.

A Memorial Funeral Service will be held Friday, December 3rd at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of the Dryden Community Funeral Home with Pastor Doug Brown officiating. A private interment will follow in the Dryden Cemetery.
