Go Fund Me Page To Help Dryden Man

He’s accepted the job of his dreams and he’s ready to become independent, however Dryden’s Casey Gould is still facing one major barrier.

The 24-year-old is set to move to Kenora on November 1st to begin a new career in Graphic Design and Photography, a profession he started to pursue six years ago in Ottawa.

However, Gould has Duchenne Muscle Dystrophy, and he has been in a wheelchair for over half his life.

Gould says in order to start his job, he needs to find accessible housing, something that is extremely difficult to come by in northwestern Ontario.

He has launched a Go Fund Me page in a bid to help off-set some of the costs of purchasing and renovating a house that would allow him to live and thrive as a working disabled person.

Gould says it takes a lot of money to make doorways bigger, improving bathroom space, and installing a roll-in shower, among other things.

He says support has already been fantastic from friends and even complete strangers.
