Good News for Friday

Here is some “Good News” from around the region….

Today marks the final day of the NOMA (Northwestern Ontario Municipal Association) Conference, and the region just received some major news regarding energy and economic growth.

In a massive announcement timed with the NOMA conference, the provincial government has officially designated the Red Lake Transmission Line as a priority project.

·  What it is: A new 162-kilometre double-circuit transmission line.

·  Who it helps: It will connect Dryden, Ear Falls, and Red Lake.

The Impact: This project is expected to support 5,800 jobs and inject roughly $830 million into the local economy. It’s designed to power the growing mining sector and ensure energy security.

Forestry & Partnerships: On day two of the NOMA conference (yesterday), provincial ministers held focused talks on strengthening forestry partnerships with First Nations, which is expected to bring more stable, sustainable industry jobs to the Dryden and Wabigoon areas.

Leaders from Ignace have been active at the NOMA conference this week, advocating for infrastructure funding and “resilience” (this year’s theme) to help smaller townships handle housing and resource development pressures.
