Good News: Sioux Lookout musher celebrates

It’s always great to hear some good news especially when it involves someone who’s living in Northwestern Ontario!

Here’s today’s ‘Good News’!!

The ‘Rookie Of The Year’ has arrived in Nome, Alaska. What a moment on the Iditarod Trail! Rookie musher Jesse Terry of Sioux Lookout has officially claimed the 2026 ‘Rookie of the Year’ title after finishing the gruelling race in 14th place. Reaching the end of the race in the early hours of this morning (March 19th), Jesse completed the Iditarod trail in 10 days, 23 hours, 36 minutes, 3 seconds.

Jesse now stands among the top finishers of The Last Great Race!!.

The Rookie of the Year Award, presented by the Peldiak Family, includes a trophy and $2,000 – but the real prize is earning a place in Iditarod history and Jesse Terry of Sioux Lookout has done exactly that!

And that is…..’Good News’ – because your day could always use a little goodness.
