The provincial government is defending the delays in the giant Ring of Fire mining development.
According to the government’s own timeline, work was supposed to begin this year.
However, Northern Development and Mining Minister Michael Gravelle says a number of issues have put them behind schedule.
Gravelle says a lack of co-operation from the federal government, first nations engagement and commodity prices have all affected the timeline
He’s also defending the $13.2-million spent so far on the Ring of Fire Secretariat, claiming it is doing “remarkable work” with First Nations and industry.
