Government Reacts To Coal Plant Report

The Liberals insist they will reduce the burning of coal to generate
electricity, despite a report warning Ontario’s coal-fired plants,
including the on in atiokan, will be needed until 2014.
Energy Minister Dwight Duncan says a recommendation from the Ontario
Power Authority to burn coal for another eight years won’t stop the province
from cutting its use.
Duncan wouldn’t say if the coal plants will stay open until 2014, and
would only commit that the government “will move forward in a responsible
way.”
