The Federal Government is under fire over the sorry state of housing conditions on the Northern reserve of Attawapiskat.
Indian Affairs Minister John Duncan says the Government has invested more than $92-million in Attawapiskat since taking office.
Duncan says that’s $52,000 for every man, woman and child on the Reserve.
Prime Minister Stephen Harper says he’s not happy with the results and stresses the Government has officials looking and acting on the problem.
A 2010 audit of on-reserve housing found government officials weren’t regularly checking up on housing projects on reserves across the country.
The First Nation community is abuzz today (Tuesday) with visiting journalists, Red Cross workers and politicians.
