The provincial government is being urged to take a stand to protect Ontario’s natural resources.
AbitibiBowater is planning to sell off its dams in Northwestern and Northeastern Ontario.
NDP MP Charlie Angus wants the provincial and federal government’s to step in and stop the sale of the hydro generating stations.
Angus says the proposed sale would affect dams in Kenora and Fort Frances.
He adds he supports the recent move made by Newfoundland and Labrador Premier Danny Williams.
Williams decided to take on AbitibiBowater and seize the assets of the timber company after it announced the closure of the plant in Grand Falls-Windsor.
