Grassy Narrows Protest Heating Up

Grassy Narrows First Nation is gaining support across the Northwest and across the country in its protest of clear-cutting operations on its territory.
First Nation leaders are holding a series of “call to action” protests in support of a blockade of a forestry road near Kenora.
Grand Council Treaty #3 Grand Chief Leon Jourdain says both levels of government are raping their lands and not taking Treaty rights into consideration.
Jourdain says the action will continue until February 24th when native leaders will meet and discuss their next course of action.
Other First Nations have set up road blocks until that time.
