Gravelle Pleased With Meeting On Ring Of Fire

The Minister of Northern Development and Mines is confident in the government’s relationship with Matawa First Nations, regarding the Ring of Fire.
Michael Gravelle’s comments following a meeting between himself, the premier, and the Matawa Chiefs.
Gravelle says it was an important meeting, as Wynne has personally asked him to work closely with Matawa Chiefs.
However junior mining exploration companies in Northwestern Ontario have a bone to pick with Gravelle.
They say government policies are stopping them from exploring for minerals or driving them out of the country.
The Minister of Natural Resources doesn’t necessarily agree.
He says that three mines opened up this past year, and there are going to be more mines opening up this year as well as next year.
Gravelle believes the industry runs in cycles and that the companies realize the opportunities remain here.
