Gravelle Responds To Comments At Conference

A strong message at the Northwestern Ontario Municipal Association Conference.
Municipal representatives hammered home to Minister of Northern Development and Mines Michael Gravelle that they’re frustrated with the Provincial Government’s decision making process when it comes to the Ring of Fire and conversion of the Thunder Bay Power Plant.
Gravelle is asking for patience when it comes to the Chromite Mine, and they will release more details as they become available.

Meantime, Energy Task Force Co-Chair Iain Angus says they’ve presented the facts about the North’s energy needs and yet the Liberal Government keeps asking for more.
He says they keep going back to the drawing board and presenting their ideas, but it’s frustrating that the government isn’t prepared to make a decision that’s favourable to Northwestern Ontario, or at all.

Northwestern Ontario Municipal Assoication President Dave Canfield says they’re understanding, but something more needs to be done to help speed up the process.
He says that they’re there to help, but time is running out.

The comments were made during the annual NOMA conference in Thunder Bay.
