It was a true fight on a special night for the Dryden GM Ice Dogs.
On a day dedicated to the fight against cancer and honouring those who have survived and those who have passed away from the deadly disease, the Ice Dogs put together their strongest full game performance of the year in a 2-1 win over the Thunder Bay North Stars Wednesday night.
Colleen Oliphant was involved in organizing the event and she calls it a huge success.
She says it was such a great community and team effort and she’s proud with everyone for coming together for such a great cause.
Oliphant notes Anita Hackman has spent ten years running the event and notes she deserves the well deserved break.
She says they lead by example and believes everyone enjoyed the evening.
The announced attendance was 404 and proceeds from the game go towards the Oncology department at the Dryden Regional Health Centre.
The official amount raised will be released in the coming days.
On the ice, Braedyn Aubin and Cory Dennis scored for the Ice Dogs, while Patrick Zubick stopped 28-shots in his Dryden GM debut.
With the win the Ice Dogs are now two points behind the North Stars for first, with three games still in their pocket.
They are back on the ice Saturday in Fort Frances against the Lakers.
The Ice Dogs have never lost a “Pink the Rink” game.
