The Federal Green Party Candidate in the Kenora Riding has been introduced as Mike Schwindt, a teacher from Poplar Hill First Nation.
Schwindt says one of the things he’ll be campaigning for is improved access to education for First Nation communities.
He notes he’s also campaigning for more green energy in remote First Nation communities.
Schwindt says solar, hydro or wind projects could replace aging diesel generators used on aboriginal communities.
He points out that due to a tight election budget, he likely won’t be able to get out to campaign very much, but says volunteers will be erecting signs and distributing Green Party pamphlets in the coming weeks.
Schwindt says he does plan to make at least one appearance in Red Lake in the last week of the election campaign.
