Green Party Out With Poverty Plan

The Green Party is introducing an initiative that will help eliminate poverty in Canada.

It’s called “Guaranteed Liveable Income” which is said to ensure all Canadians have access to an income level that can meet their basic needs.

Kenora Riding candidate Ember McKillop says in 1989 the government had signed a declaration that they would end poverty in 2000, and notes that hasn’t happened.

McKillop says eliminating poverty will raise quality of living and reduce health care costs.

She says seniors and those living with disabilities will benefit the most from the Green plan.
