Greenstone Spending Big Bucks for Processor

The Municipality of Greenstone has hired George Smitherman’s firm to help get the area a Ring of Fire ore processor.
Greenstone hired two firms to try to get Cliffs Natural Resources to build its chromite processor on the outskirts of Nakina and Aroland First Nation.
The municipality is going to pay the firms $12,000 a month over the next three months to present the smelter case for Greenstone and affected First Nations.
U-S-based Cliffs is also eyeing Thunder Bay and Sudbury for the processor.
The facility is expected to create about 350 jobs.
The former energy minister left the legislature in 2009, then lost his bid to become Toronto’s mayor.
