The Minister of Indigenous Affairs and Northern Development is excited to move the Ring of Fire forward in the new session of legislature.
Greg Rickford says the mining project in the far north is just one piece of the puzzle to economic recovery in our region.
“There are a couple of significant mines in the neighbourhood that have moved to construction. So down in Greenstone way and they will form the basis of the ‘rally point’ I like to call it for the corridor to prosperity.”
The Kenora-Rainy River MPP says the main priority is finalizing the all-weather road network.
“Before mines can get built, communities need more economic development tools, they need a road in there, and that’s where my ministry is going to play a critical role in supporting what will ultimately be a world-class supply of critical minerals,” says Rickford.
