Greg Rickford Says Budget Is Good For All Canadians

Kenora MP Greg Rickford says the Federal budget focuses on jobs, growth and security in northern Ontario.

Rickford says the government was able to balance the books without making cuts in education and health care.

He notes seniors are among the major winners.

Rickford says the tax free savings account has doubled and seniors can now withdrawal money without paying taxes on the interest that’s earned.

Rickford adds they have also introduced a new tax credit for home improvements to allow seniors to stay in their own homes.

The government has also lowered minimum withdrawal limits for the Registered Retirement Income Fund.

Rickford adds families are also benefiting from the budget as the average family will receive $6,600 in support per year under various measures including expanding the Universal Child Care Benefit.
