Greg Wilson Reacts To Dryden Election Win

Greg Wilson is returning to the Mayor’s seat in the City of Dryden.

Wilson received 1,599 votes in Monday’s election, 284 more than former Mayor Roger Valley.

Wilson replaced Craig Nuttall following the 2014 municipal election, so this will be his first full term.

He took time yesterday to thank his challenger for years of service in politics.

Wilson says Valley has been an active politician and advocate of Dryden and has always been willing to step up and share his convictions for the well-being of the community.

Norm Bush, Martin MacKinnon and John Carlucci were all re-elected, along with former Councillor Shayne MacKinnon.

They will be joined by newcomers Michelle Price and Dave McKay.

Wilson says the Incumbents getting back in is a vote of confidence that the City is on the right track and getting their fiscal house in order.

He says the key is completing critical infrastructure projects and drafting a strategic plan.

Wilson adds the urgent needs right away is a decision on a retail cannabis store in the community and the presentation of the OPP costing study.

He says they also have to ensure their budget is in place by January.

Voter turn-out in Dryden was 52.8%.
