A group of former Barclay residents want the City of Dryden to come up with a long-term plan for the Dryden Fire Service.
A list of seven recommendations has been presented to staff and Council with the main recommendation keeping Fire Hall #2 open.
Gus Kropf made the presentation at last weeks public meeting discussing the future of the Barclay Fire Hall.
Kropf is asking the City to review and rewrite job descriptions and consider job sharing in an effort to save money.
He believes the Fire Service can utilize civilian volunteers to help in maintenance, office work, fundraising and other non fire fighting duties.
Kropf notes there is a potential business opportunity for a training centre at the Fire Hall #2 property.
He stresses staff should also find savings in other departments that impact all residents equally.
Kropf is calling for a sub-committee of Council, staff and Dryden east and west residents to find ways to ensure the long term viability of the Barclay Fire Hall.
Council has indicated it will hold-off on any decision regarding the future of the Barclay Hall.
