Growing gardens, gathering communities

There’s no better time to support local growers, makers, and young gardeners than during the busy summer season in Your Sunset Country. From weekly farmers markets filled with fresh local products to opportunities for young people to showcase their gardening talents, these community events highlight the importance of agriculture and local food production.

Cloverbelt Country Farmers Market

The Cloverbelt Country Farmers Market continues to bring fresh, locally produced goods to area residents each week with two convenient locations.

Every Thursday from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., shoppers can visit the market at the Dryden Arena parking lot. The market also takes place every Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Oxdrift Hall.

Visitors can browse a wide selection of locally grown produce, fresh herbs, honey, meats, homemade baking, and handcrafted items created by talented local artisans. The market offers a great opportunity to meet local farmers and producers while filling your basket with high-quality products grown and made close to home.

Whether you’re looking for fresh vegetables for dinner, a unique handmade gift, or simply want to support local businesses, the Cloverbelt Country Farmers Market is the perfect place to connect with the community. The message is simple: Eat Local, Shop Local, and Support Local.

Dryden District Agricultural Society Junior Garden Competition

Young gardeners are invited to roll up their sleeves and put their green thumbs to work in the Dryden District Agricultural Society’s Junior Garden Competition.

This annual competition encourages children and youth to develop gardening skills while learning where food comes from and gaining an appreciation for agriculture. Participants are given the opportunity to grow their own plants, care for their gardens throughout the season, and showcase their hard work.

The competition promotes responsibility, patience, and environmental stewardship, while also providing a fun and educational summer activity. Whether participants are growing vegetables, flowers, or a combination of both, the experience helps build confidence and a lifelong connection to gardening.

Families are encouraged to support young gardeners as they nurture their plants and watch their gardens flourish. The Junior Garden Competition continues to inspire the next generation of growers and helps strengthen the area’s agricultural traditions one garden at a time.
