NDP leader Howard Hampton believes Norhtern Ontario

deserves special lower electricity rates.

Hampton says the McGuinty government still has time to

encourage paper mills such as Abitibi Consolidated to stay

in the region.

The “fighting for the north campaign” also calls for the

Government to invest more in the region, and to stop

considering pulp and paper a sunset industry.

Hampton met with various paper worker unions today in

front of city hall, and will be making another six stops

in Northern Ontario.
