The New Democrats are applauding the Liberal move to establish fixed election dates every 4 years.
Leader Howard Hampton says it will provide predictability for voters and provide some separation from other elections.
However, the Kenora-Rainy River MPP fears an American style process where the campaign becomes tiresome and drawn out.
Hampton also sees the announcement as an attempted distraction from its recent tax hikes and accuses the Premier of trying to distance himself from voter discontent.
