Hampton slams package

The Opposition parties were quick to denounce today’s Forestry Aid Package.
Conservative Leader John Tory said Dalton McGuinty still “doesn’t get it” & thousands more jobs will be lost in the sector as a result of a lack of immediate & proper action.
NDP Boss Howard Hampton was in Thunder Bay for the announcement & says the Liberals still aren’t doint anything to help with out of control Hydro costs.

Hampton also slammed the $28 million/year for access roads & pointed the finger at former Permier Mike Harris for killing the program & dumping those costs on the forest companies…

Weyerhaeuser Dryden Mill Manager Norm Bush is also concerned about the roads portion of the package saying it won’t help reduce costs much at all…

NOMA, the Northern Ontario Municipal Association vowed to hold Ottawa to a pledge the Prime Minister made this summer to support the industry.
President Michael Power called it the beginning of the journey & promised to keep the pressure up.
