Hampton Slams Provincial Budget

NDP Leader Howard Hampton says measures like Health Care premiums and the delisting of some services prove the Liberals are out to break election promises.
The Kenora-Rainy River MPP says the Provincial budget is regressive and picks the pockets of low and middle income families.
The budget sets aside 1 cent/litre of the gas tax to be used for public transit which Hampton says does nothing for this riding.
Hampton says the Province continues to be vague on whether Northern communities without public transit will see any of the gas tax.
Hampton also accuses the Government of doing nothing to address the financial burden Northern communities are facing with Long Term Care deficits and bed shortages.
