Harold E. Pateman

Harold E Pateman

August 20, 1923 – July 1, 2012

In loving memory of Harold Edward Pateman, age 88 years, who passed away on July 1st, after a long struggle with heart disease and cancer…..a struggle made even more difficult for him by Alzheimer’s. He lived his final months as he was known throughout his life: quiet, gentle and uncomplaining.

Harold is survived by his wife of almost 64 years, Elsie Pateman (nee McDonald), two children, Len Pateman (Ruth), and Lesley Bone (Shane), four grandchildren, Danee Pateman, Graham Pateman (Marie-Eve), Angela Lock (Justin), Steven Bone (Megan) and a great grand-daughter Blair. He was predeceased by his parents, Len & Edith Pateman, a daughter, Linda Jane Pateman, and his brother, Raymond Pateman.

Harold was born and raised in Oxdrift. During WWII, he enlisted in the Canadian Army, and served overseas, in England, France, Holland, Belgium and Germany. After the war, he spent all of his working years farming in Oxdrift, and was employed for 14 years at the Dryden Pulp & Paper Mill. After retirement, his greatest joy was spending time with the grandchildren….there were many tractor rides and trips to the store for treats.

In keeping with Dad’s wishes, there will be no service. Cremation has taken place, and interment of ashes at the Oxdrift Cemetery will occur at a future date.

Harold’s family would like to sincerely thank the staff at Patricia Gardens for the outstanding care they provided for Dad during the two years after Mom moved to Princess Court, and would also like to sincerely thank the staff of Princess Court for the equally outstanding care they provided for Dad during the past fifteen months.

Donations may be made to the Second Chance Pet Network or Canadian Cancer Society through the Stevens Funeral Homes P.O. Box 412, Dryden Ont., P8N 2Z1. Condolences may be posted at stevensfuneralhomes.ca
