Health Care Report Released

A new report is out with several recommendations aimed at enhancing the
integration of health services in this region.
At the request of the Provincial Government, Tom Closson spent nearly
a year speaking with over 700-stakeholders to discuss the state of the
local system.
Closson says regional hospitals are in need of capital funds.
He believes hospitals in Sioux Lookout and Marathon could become
“District” facilities.
He says there is also a need to improve the electronic health and tele-medicine system as well as address the shortage of long-term care and nursing beds.
The Province says the Northwest Ontario Health Integration Network
will carefully consider the recommendations contained in the summary.
