The Dental Consultant for the Northwestern Health Unit says the cost
to put fluoride back in the City’s drinking water is not as high as
previously reported.
Dr. Peter Cooney says figures have ranged from $150,000 to $400,000 over
the years and notes they are incorrect.
Cooney claims the cost to put fluoride back in would be roughly $60,000.
Cooney says the health unit is also willing to work with the city to
address safety concerns.
Dryden staff have been against the move citing those concerns and the
lack of scientific evidence.
The issue will be put to a referendum Monday.
