Health Unit Anti-Smoking

The Northwestern Health Unit has introduced a new tool to crackdown on
the sale of tobacco products to anyone under the age of 19.
Area stores and gas bars have received the ‘Not To Kids Binder’ with
information on the Smoke-Free Ontario Act, the signage required and who to
ask for ID.
Tobacco Enforcement Officer Wally MacLeod says most businesses are
meeting the requirements of the Act but notes new rules are on the horizon.

n044 runs: 20 sec. out…the purchaser.

The Health Unit is planning to launch a public awareness campaign early
in the new year.
