Health Unit Changes West Nile Focus

The Northwestern Health Unit says the warmer temperatures may be behind
the high number of cases of the West Nile virus.
Two more dead birds tested positive for the virus in Sioux Narrows and
Kenora last week.
Environmental Health Officer Al Mathers says they now have had
positive birds in most major communities.
Mathers says they will now concentrate most of the efforts on mosquito
traps to track any change in the West Nile virus in the Region and area’s that haven’t recorded a positive case.
The Region has seen a record number of 14 cases this Summer.
