Health Unit Encouraging Public To Get Third Shot

Another call to get your third COVID vaccine from local health officials.

Dr. Kit Young Hoon is the Medical Officer of Health for the Northwestern Health.

“Increasing information that we’re seeing, it’s showing up very clearly in the statistics that the third dose, or the booster dose of the vaccine, provides extremely good protection against severe illness and hospitalizations. Above 95% protection.”

Dr. Young Hoon reiterates, “Risk is significantly higher for those who have not been vaccinated or only have one dose of the vaccine. Their risk is much greater of severe illness compared to someone who’s had their third dose.”
