Health Unit Launches Internal COVID Review

The Northwestern Health Unit is conducting an internal review of its response to the COVID pandemic.

Officials say it will take some time as they want to do an in-depth investigation.

However, Medical Officer of Health Dr. Kit Young Hoon says they’ve seen a lot of good from their staff over the past two years.

“Very thankful for the staff we have and how hard they’ve worked throughout this pandemic. Many people have had to give up vacations, work long hours and into evenings and weekends in order to respond to the pandemic.”

Dr. Young Hoon adds, “We’ve seen lots of great work coming out of our organization. Staff have stepped up and worked in rounds and expert content areas that they have never worked in before. We have had to redeploy staff across the agency to focus in our COVID.”

She also noted improved communication with the public and the organizations they deal with.
